A Brief History of Haringey Borough FC
Haringey Borough FC were formed in 1973 by a merger of Edmonton and Wood Green Town. Initially named Edmonton & Haringey the club changed their name to Haringey Borough in 1976. Borough played their football in the Athenian League until it disbanded in 1984. They then moved to Isthmian League Division Two North but due to an exodus of players and staff withdrew from the league in 1988. Haringey rebounded in 1989 joining the Spartan League and scoring three consecutive top six finishes. The club changed its name to Tufnell Park in 1995 but reverted back to Haringey Borough in 1996. The Borough were founding members of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division South in 1997/98. They joined the Essex League in 2013/14 finishing runners-up and winning the league title in 2014/15. Haringey then rejoined the Isthmian League for 2015/16 in Division One North. Last season they finished in 5th position. The club have this season equalled their best run in the FA Cup by reaching the 3rd Qualifying Round which they last achieved in 1986/87.

Haringey Borough have had a great start to the season having won eight of eleven games played in all competitions without a defeat. They sit 3rd in the league (W6 D1 L0). The Borough have got past Bowers & Pitsea, Hitchin Town and most impressively Welling United of the National League South to reach the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Haringey come into the tie off the back of four straight wins. Bideford have had a mixed start to the season sitting in 14th position in the Evo-Stik South West Division (W3 D0 L3). In the FA Cup, Bideford have beaten Wells City, Bishop’s Cleeve and Bodmin Town after a replay.
