A Brief History of Street FC
Founded in 1880, Street FC played in the Somerset Senior League winning the league title five times before joining the Western League in 1911. Street rejoined the Somerset League in 1922 but stepped up to the Western League once again in 1930. In 1938/39 the club reached the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first and only time where they were knocked out by Ipswich Town. The Cobblers finished second in the Western League in 1952/53 but went on to be relegated to Division Two in 1955. Street dropped back into the Somerset League in 1960 where they would win their sixth and seventh league titles in 1963/64 and 1965/66. After falling down to the fourth tier of the Somerset League in the early 1990s, Street came roaring back with four promotions on the bounce culminating in an eighth Somerset League title and a return to the Western League in 1997. After nine seasons in Division One, The Cobblers finished third in 2005/06 to gain promotion to the Premier Division. The club struggled initially but went on to establish themselves in the division before finishing as runners-up in 2016/17 and then becoming Western League champions for the first time in 2017/18 and a first ever promotion to the Southern League.
