BIGGLESWADE TOWN 1 v ST. NEOTS 0 Report by Mike Draxler

After the snow and rain the preceding few days the Langford Road pitch was passed fit to play on. The waders a fast passing outfit struggled on a pitch that was more like the league sponsors Evostik than grass. St. Neots came with rumour and counter rumour, a club in turmoil. Maybe, I don't know best only get the truth from the horses mouth. I heard before the game that with so many new and young players in the side our visitors had little chance. But and you know...……

The pitch was unforgiving with the whole surface being difficult to construct a passing game. St. Neots for all the young players did well certainly their 2 wide players leading the Wader fullbacks a merry dance. Opportunities were created but as in previous games the finishing has to be more clinical. The closest a header from Jordan Gent that smashed against the bar from a Ben Walster corner. At 0-0 half time it seemed Biggleswade were making hard work of disposing of their nearest neighbours.

Out for the second period and the youngsters were gaining in confidence despite play being mostly in the visitors half. On the odd occasion they ventured upfield the shots getting closer and the home worry lines deeper. It was not the best night for this group of players but it was always going to be that way as the pitches became heavier. At last after a mix up on the St. Neots goal line, where confusion caused Brett Donnelly, Peter Clark and Jonny McNamara all being credited with the goal. The truth will always out as Jonny McNamara was given the decision.
Three points but only just, and as it says at the top, fit to play but not fit for football.

Next up Stourbridge away, another tough test. Up the Waders.
