Innovation ensures 3 teams get a game
Bingham win each half against different opposition
A break from the league saw us travel to Long Eaton to play a triangular match v a Long Eaton 2nd / Vets team and a similar team from Moderns.
The 1st 40 minutes had Bingham playing Long Eaton, the 2nd 40 against Moderns and the 3rd 40 saw Moderns play Long Eaton
This ensured 3 teams each got 80 minutes of Rugby and playing in the right spirit meant with several interchanges between clubs also ensured every team had a full line up with replacements.
The 1st period was played Long Eaton v Bingham with Bingham handing Long Eaton a score straight from a fumbled kickoff and then allowed the Long Eaton Eaton back row to recover and go over untouched.
Bingham then woke up and a good contest ensued.
Bingham drew level with a try from Jamie Graham and then went ahead 7 - 14 with a score and conversion from Matt Cumming before Long Eaton brought it back to 14 - 14. A nasty leg fracture to the Long Eaton player held the game up before Bingham gained a further try & conversion to win the half 14 - 21
The 40 minutes against Moderns was a bit more 1 sided with Bingham running in 6 tries to nil with scores from Jamie Graham, Ian Taylor, Matt Forde, Ben Packer & Jonathan Thomas.
Matt Cumming was impeccable with his goal kicking on the day getting 9/9.
A few lads then helped out in the last session where Moderns played Long Eaton where unfortunately Ben Packer had to leave the game needing several stitches to his lip and is very very unlikely to be available next week.
Overall a very sociable afternoon and an experiment worthy to be tried again - all credit to Long Eaton.
