Welcome to the under 17`s hompeage

Last season we ran an under 17`s team and with a Congs junior side not winning for three seasons, the pressure was certainly on. We were definitely the under-dogs going into each game we were to play and the entire season as we were clear relegation candidates.

We proved a lot of people and teams wrong. Even though we struggled to field eleven players each week, we were never once humiliated or annihilated by any of the top teams. The last two games of the season, we recorded two back-to-back wins against Haworth and Steeton.

In doing so it gave a Congs junior side their first win for three seasons.
Approaching the 2013 season, I would like the team to carry on that momentum from the end of the 2012 season and if we can field eleven players each week, then we could course a few surprises.

We are currently four or five players short from having a big enough squad to compete with the top teams but if we do not recruit then we will struggle. The players we currently have are all skilled in their own way, with a few of them already playing senior cricket for Congs and other cricket teams.

The under 17`s management and coaching team consists of Jonny Teale, John Fuller and Alan “Iggy” Igglesden.
With John having gained all his coaching badges and having played cricket in six different counties, John certainly brings a lot of experience and knowledge of the game and this will be without a doubt a benefit to the junior lads.

Alan “Iggy” Igglesden is an ex England fast bowler and will help, not just bowlers but also batters with their technique and thought processes to certain situations within the game that are more then likely to arise.

Jonny does not have the coaching badges or the experience of playing for England but he played and was brought up through the Congs junior ranks, all the way from under 11`s to under 17`s and knows what junior cricket is all about.

Junior cricket is a learning process and with all three of these gentlemen playing their cricket at Congs they will deliver fun but serious practise sessions and will make your cricket an enjoyment to play.

Training will start in the New Year but if keen to play junior cricket at Congs, then contact us through our website, or facebook and Twitter pages and we’ll sort you out with details and further information.
