With Birchencliffe's ground again unfit due to the weather despite a brave effort from the players with mops and brushes an alternative way of settling this prolononged cup tie was needed. The chance of a bowl out also fell foul of the weather so it was agreed to toss a coin for the chance to progress. With Birchencliffe's skipper Mark Burns' record not great so far this season luck was needed, but the Thornhill skipper guessed correctly and his team now face Green Moor in the 3rd round.
A dissapointing and unlucky way to go out of the cup, but at the end of the day the focus has to be on achieving promotion this season.
