18s Win First Home Game - Hale scores 4!

Bulldogs came from behind to clinch a crucial win against local rivals Coventry Bears today. Both teams were dealing with a number of absentees due to exams, but those who did play, enjoyed the welcome break from revision.

Coming down the hill, Coventry started the stronger going into an early 10 - 6 lead capitalising on some costly penalties from the home team.
The Bulldogs then had their first of two "golden" patches when John Hale twice and then Ryan Millar scored on the bounce. Debutant Jeeda, crashed over from close range to give the Bulldogs a half time lead of 28-14.

The game was in the balance and the Bears showed some great resistance before John Hale crossed for 2 tries. The Bulldogs were clearly now on top, possibly helped by the lack of Bears substitutes. Joe Gregory then created a piece of magic beating a number of defenders before feeding Ryan Millar who rounded off a length of the field effort. Sam Shepherd, who kicked ably throughout, converted the goal to clinch a 44 - 22 victory for the Bulldogs.

John Hale picked up the Man of the Match award with 4 tries, but Captain Jake Bagsby and hooker Shane Mckensie also showed up well.
