Spirited performance but early red card left a mountain to climb

Bulldogs 16
Dragons 34

Bulldogs started the game the better piling lots of pressure and deservedly taking the lead.

Strong exchanges between sides saw a very even game of good quality but mid first half saw a red card for Bulldogs prop Michael Florey and left a hard challenge for the remaining 60 minutes.

The final 15 minutes of the first half saw Bulldogs lose their shape and concede a number of tries, half time couldn't come soon enough.

2nd half Bulldogs started in similar solidarity as the first and a deserved try came. Dragons losing their discipline saw a yellow card which brought the numbers even and allowed Bulldogs to pile more pressure. There was another yellow card to a Dragon mid 2nd half and a very spirited performance actually saw us victors in the 2nd half. Sadly though over the course of 80 minutes Bulldpgs didn't do enough to win having conceded too many in the first half and lost 16-34.

The team were obviously disappointed to lose but the performance was substantially better than the previous week against Ravens.

Man of the match could have gone to a number of players, some notable performances from James Snart, Matt Beattie, Iestyn Pratt, and Adam Walker to name a few, but the accolade went to Ben Wombwell.

Next week we face South Birmingham Hawks with both sides looking to record their first win.

On a final note it was great to see our founder John Simkin in the crowd, taking full advantage of the seats in the stand at our new Moseley facilities.
