Finally, what we've all been waiting for! All the info you will need for now to do with the Union Cup 2019 in Dublin.
The 8th biennial Union Cup will be held in Dublin, from 7th to the 9th June 2019.
I'm sure you've all heard from those that have been to previous Union Cups and Bingham Cups, and how brilliant a week it is. We also need to defend our position in the top 4 teams in Europe!
We will be bidding to host the 2021 Union Cup while in Dublin, so lets get a good turnout!
The tournament will be held in and around Dublin City University with accommodation on campus.
Once everyone is registered we will be looking into accommodation. There are many options, but the preferred one is the we all stay on the university accommodation. We would suggest you stay (work allowing) at least from Thursday 6th until Monday 10th (some are staying longer). There will be teams from all over Europe, and they will be hanging around before and after the tournament.
The club will be registering all of you who are interested going before the end of January, and we will be paying roughly half the 'early bird' registration cost (roughly £115). You need to register your interest by Monday 21st January, and pay £60 into the club account by 25th January. If you decide to come along after early bird registration closes, then the club will pay the same amount as everyone else, but you will top up the higher cost.
We understand this is a difficult time of year with money, and so please let us know if you need a short extension until payday, and it will be considered.
So we can get everyone registered before the 'early bird' deadline please let the Chairman or Captain know you want to go, either through facebook, in person or via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Monday 21st January.
Now the boring bit..... as has been mentioned in previous trips abroad; please note that this money comes from the club as a result of hard work from YOU at the fundraising events and throughout the year. It is a sort of grant for our members that are travelling to represent our club and city at the biggest amateur rugby event in Europe. It is therefore expected that individuals will uphold the club core values and attend all matches and events while inDublin (barring some sort of extenuating circumstance; including, but not limited to, explosive bum gravy episodes). If these core values have not been upheld, and attendance to all events demonstrated, some of the monies can be claimed back by the club.
