The Richard Engelgardt Trust Fund
In August 2009 Birstall prop forward Richard Engelgardt sustained a dislocated spine after a scrum collapsed early on in a pre-season trial game. Richard had been an ever present member of the second xv after joining the club in late 2008. Richards passion for rugby didn't just stop at playing, he regularly helped coach young children at Belgrave RFC and could be found on the terrace at Leicester Tigers working as a steward. Following the accident Richard was informed he would never walk again but has worked solidly at Hertfordshire's Stoke Mandeville Hospital with the support of partner Karen and young daughter Gemma to adjust to life in a wheel chair. This is where we need help, To support Richard in his rehabilitation a substantial amount of money needs to be raised to make this transaction as smooth as possible. Please help Richard and his family and also help to raise awareness of other injured players.
