| Batley Boys | vs | BIRSTALL VICTORIA |
Birstall U10's v Batley Boys
Birstall 10’s made the short Journey to Mount Pleasant this weekend to take on Batley Boys.
They got off to an impressive start when Joshua Beevers side stepped the opposition’s defence, running full length to put down between the posts. A try from Leon Grayshon soon followed after he ploughed his way through Batley’s defensive line for his first of two tries.
Batley played a good kicking game but unfortunately for them each high bomb was taken and diffused in the safe hands of the Vic’s MOM Sam Brackley. Opposition’s MOM Joshua Beevers closed the first half scoring for the Vic, racing down field, out pacing the opposition's defence to ground a well-placed Harry Copley kick.
Batley upped their game in the second half and began to make good ground in to Birstall’s territory. Great defending from Edward Flexney and Top Tackler Sean Lawes helped to keep Batley at Bay. Strong running from Reece Ripley and fancy footwork from Harry Copley enabled Birstall to come close enough for Caitlin Beevers to scoot over from Dummy Half, adding her 4 points to the Vics tally. Additional second half tries for Birstall came courtesy of Sam Hartley and Parent’s MOM Robson Stevens, both of whom had impressed.
It proved to be an entertaining game played in good spirit by both teams.
