Birtley Town Football Club will host the 2017-18 Team Valley Carpets Amateur Cup Final on Tuesday 1st May as Blyth Spartans Reserves meet Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors for the third and final time this season.
In their league campaigns, its the Spartans who occupy first place with a current points total of 59 whilst their opponents Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors are in second place, 10 points further back on 49 having played two games more than Blyth.
In their two previous meetings so far this season, its one win apiece with Blyth Spartans claiming a 3-1 home win on August 16th while in the return fixture at Prudhoe on February 10th, Prudhoe ran out 5-3 winners.
Of the top seven leading goalscorers in the second division, Spartans players occupy three of those places with Karl Lazzari the current league top scorer on 30 goals, Liam Wotherspoon on 18 goals and Andrew Murray on 15 goals which means that the three players have contributed to over 60% of their 103 goals scored between them.
As far as conceding goals goes, Spartans' Curtis Richardson tops the charts having conceded 19 goals in his 14 appearances, an average of 1.36 goals per game. This is followed closely by Prudhoe's goalkeeper Jack Walker in second place who has conceded 37 goals in his 21 games, an average of 1.76 goals per game.

The current overall top scorer in the competition this season is Ross Nicholson of Winlaton Vulcans with four goals, closely followed by six players on two goals each; with two of those players being Blyth Spartans' Karl Lazzari and Sean Cowx respectively. A further nine players from the two clubs all on one goal each.
If you're coming down to support the two teams, there is a car park at the football club which will easily fit 40 cars IF they are parked correctly so please reverse park. The surrounding streets and road into the ground can also be used once the main car park is full. A little bit further along the road, there is a free car park of ample size behind the row of shops next to Morrisons.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE LEISURE CENTRE CAR PARK AS THIS CLOSES AT 9PM AND THE GATES WILL BE LOCKED.
Kick off is at 7:30pm and it is £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions & U16's and the gate is operated by League officials.
Our fully licensed clubhouse, Wadgey's Bar, will be open from around 6pm selling cans of alcohol, pop, sweets and crisps. We will also be serving food if anyone happens to miss their tea!
