BIRTLEY TOWN 1-3 DUNSTON UTS

A GAME OF TWO HALVES

Birtley welcomed Northern League Division One side Dunston UTS to the newly named Robinson Heating & Plumbing Stadium on Thursday evening for a second consecutive year which Dunston had won 3-1 last season. Dunston having only faced National League North side Blyth Spartans two days prior brought a packed squad which would ensure at least a 45-minute run out for most players.

A definite game of two halves and an evenly contested opening hour before a decent spell from the visitors saw them score three times in a fifteen minute period. The first goal, a penalty from Jake Stafford after Liam Thear had been upended in the box, the second from Jordan Nellis four minutes later with centre half Dan Capewell scoring Dunston's third goal with a decent strike into the opposite corner of the net after spinning his marker in the box.

With virtually the last kick of the game, Ricky Tanoh pulled one back for Birtley. Full back Cameron Hood swung a ball into the box where it was chested down by Dan Hill into Tanoh's path before he planted it past the unmoved goalkeeper.
