Cleeve Ladies 2-1 Cheltenham Civil Service

Cleeve faced Cheltenham CS for the third time and third Tim lucky we came out on top.

Kicking with the wind at our backs Cleeve dominated the game without creating many clearcut chances. Immy O’brien hit a superb shot which crashed against the bar on 7 mins. Leonie Gough scored with a well taken shot from the corner of the box on 21 mins. Cleeve scored a second on 36 mins when Sophie Taylor ….clearing a ball from 10yrds inside her own half, saw the ball catch the wind and bounce over the unfortunate Civil Service Keeper.

We knew it was going to be tough playing against the wind and stressed how important it was to be sharp, keep the ball short and close down to stop any long range attempts.

This team talk, and words of wisdom lasted for approx 20 seconds ! We kick off played it back, failed to react and Civvy capitalised! 2-1. It was going to be long half! We battled hard and kept civvy at arms length. They also rattled the bar from a long range shot , but we managed to limit them the opportunities, with 10 players after Lottie was sin binned!
