Murphys 2 - 4 BIFC
3 goals for Adair as BIFC gain valuable 3 points
Bishops went to Newbold, shy of a few players due to Injury and other reasons (alarms not going off!!) to find that the pitch was playable despite some early morning fears. Both teams got changed and assumed the game was on, with the ref not there yet. Once he saw both teams were keen, the game went ahead.
Bishops played into the wind first half, and Jonny linked up with Jordan on a couple of occasions without putting us ahead. Jared slid one wide, and it was only a matter of time before Bishops took the lead. Adair notched after some fine work down the left from Andy Yeates and Jordan. It was 2-0 when Smiler bundled home from a corner, not sure if it was an own goal, but he can have it.
All seemed to be going to plan, but Murphys grew into the game and forced a couple of good saves from Nathan. They reduced the deficit after a corner wasn't cleared properly and was poached home from close range.
Just before half time, a long range strike was too hot for Nathan to handle and the rebound was tapped home to make it 2-2.
After half time, Bishops had the wind behind them and we playing mostly in the Murphys half, with them looking to hit us on the break. No goals were scored for a while, Jared hit the bar and Joey, Jordan, Andy and Jonny all went close to making it 3-2.
Cooper broke from defence and laid in Jared who set up Jonny to seal it 3-2 with his left, before a goal kick was smartly take by Adair before he finished to make it 4-2. Faulkner had come on in place of Joey in the hole, to use his guile and experience in closing the game out. Other than being bundled over first touch, he showed us all a neat cameo to keep him in the managers thoughts for the season run in.
A valuable 3 points, as Paul Okey put it, that helped ease our relegation fears. Thanks for that Paul.
