BIFC 3 - 0 Wellesbourne
Up and running with 3 points
A fresh new start for BIFC in the 2017/18 season, as ever old habits die hard and with that Bishops had 12 players available after injuries to lads playing for the Saturday side and a no show after Lewis enjoyed himself a bit too much Saturday night.
Bradshaw, Cloughy, Rob Herdman and Matt Hughes made debuts in the season opener and straight away Bishops were on the front foot. A long throw was not dealt with by HRI and Rob Herdman was on hand to lash home from close range. Shortly after, a corner again wasn't dealt with by the HRI defence, and Andy Yeates this time was there to finish to double the advantage.
Soon as the goals were scored, the game quietened down, with Johnny harshly not awarded a penalty after being upended in the box. HRI had some half chances, but didnt test Nathan too much in the Bishops goal.
Half time came and went and the game was a bit scrappy, with both teams competing hard but unable to get the ball down on a hard and wet pitch. Joey showed a couple of nice touches when advancing from Midfield, with Cloughy standing firm in the face of some late HRI pressure.
Bishops made it 3 and wrapped the game up when Charlie whipped in a free kick and Cloughy headed home to open his account for the club.
All in all, a pleasing result considering we didn't play that well, Warwick Cavern await next week at Aylesford School.
