BIFC 3 - 1 Khalsa
3 Goals, 3 Cherries. 3 Cheers.
A rare league fixture was on the cards for BIFC this weekend, with Khalsa the opponents. Despite the pitch not being used for 2 months, it was crap. Well done to the contractors who decided to cut the grass during the week when there was standing water on the pitches, really well thought out move that one.
The game kicked off, and shortly after Joel had to come off with a hamstring injury. Typical sprinters injury that one, were sure he'll be back in action soon. Johnny came on in his place and didn't take him long to get in on the action. Linking up with Jase and beating the offside trap, he managed to finish from a tight angle to make it 1-0 Bishops. Joe Williams was looking sharp after his mid season break, that doubled with a decent nights kip and not a belly full of sauce which I am sure helped. Matty Hughes snapped away into a few tackles as Bishops were game across the park.
After this, Khalsa grew into the game as Bishops drifted. Poor decisions were being made from front to back without being punished, until Tunde's flick on evaded the Bishops defence and the ball was stuck away to equalise.
The second half saw Bishops back on top, a few half chances were created as we knocked on the door. Adair won us a penalty when the keeper dropped a high ball and in his panic pulled down Adair - Ref Watkin correctly pointing to the spot. On the subject if the ref,if you listened to the Khalsa centre forward for 90 mins, you'd think he'd deliberately gave the wrong decision all the time. Didn't half moan the chap.
Jase stuck away the Penalty after it was contested by the Khalsa squad, giving Bishops the lead. Nath had a few long range strikes to deal with, but not a lot else as Khalsa didn't really create much.
Johnny made it 3-1 with about 15 to go, as he beat a couple of defenders and finished low into the bottom corner.
A good 3 points on the board against a tough Khalsa side, with 6 league games remaining there is plenty of football left in this league challenge.
