Khalsa 1 - 5 BIFC
Another game ticked off
A midweek game up at Newbold is what gets the juices flowing. Long grass, rock hard pitches, sun blazing over the top of one goal, everyone rushing from work, getting there late. All lovely stuff.
Khalsa took the lead early on when a ball over the top was lost in the sun by Ginger Matt, allowing the striker to stop talking and finish past on rushing Charlie in nets.
Bishops were struggling for Rhythm, going too direct at times or just making the wrong choices. Johnny won a penalty when he beat one man, only to forget the ball. The defender didn't care and brought him down anyway, allowing Jase to bring us level. Adair had another chance when he went through only to be thwarted by a fine save by Bastos. The rebound was also saved when we thought it would be one of those nights.
Turts and Johnny B swapped sides, with Johnny B taking a liking for the long grass it seemed. We we back on top and in front with a flurry of goals, with Hughes, Williams, Trinder and Turton all finding the net after some much better football. Adair had a perfectly good goal disallowed, which went down well with the masses. The ref seemed to have it in for the boys in red as every tackle resulted in a Khalsa free kick. Despite this, Khalsa didn't really trouble Charlie in goal, with Ginger, Scary and Sporty Spice at the back nullifying any threat.
A few yellow cards were given out and Turts was shown the strawberry after some dissent was sent the refs way. A textbook Sunday Legaue game played on a midweek evening. Another game ticked off on the never ending fixture list.
