Peter has decided on a career change resigning his position with the RFU as RDO for Hertfordshire and taking up a Teaching appointment.
As a result he will no longer have the time to be able to commit himself to BSRFC as First Team Coach and accordingly has announced that after four seasons at the helm, he will step down at the end of this Season.
We would like to like to express our sincere thanks for his sterling service over the last four seasons and wish him well in his new career.
Peter has overseen a blossoming First team at BSRFC who have recently broken a 24 year old Club record for consecutive wins in a season. Their tally currently stands at 16.
He has never been afraid to bring on talented players at a young age introducing them to the attractive open style of Rugby that has become synonymous with BSRFC and upon which we pride ourselves.
With four remaining league games, the team are still in contention for a place in the promotion 'play off's' and despite this news Peter and the First team squad are concentrating all their energy on continuing their winning run and achieving the highest place finish in the league possible.
This is the most successful season that the Club have had since entering the leagues and Charlie Dunsford, our Director of Rugby acknowledges that Peter will be a hard act to follow.
Charlie will now oversee the process to select a suitable replacement and in an ideal world we would like to appoint Peters successor before the end of the season to enable a seamless hand over.
Good luck Peter. You will always be welcome at our club and maybe you'll find time in the future to don your Stortford stripy blazer and add a bit of crowd noise at a 1st XV league match as a supporter!
This is a good news/bad news week. The good news is that Perry has been awarded the Volunteer of the Year award - well deserved and good to see someone who has given so much time to the Club being appreciated. The bad news is Peter leaving. We seem to have known him so long, certainly before the family arrived, and has given so much to the Club. He will be hard to replace but I wish him good luck with his new career.
