Welcome to the Under 7s Team page
The U7s welcome all children in school Year 2 to the club, and we aim to teach them techniques and skills of tag rugby in a fun and inclusive environment.
At this age the focus is on ball handling, evasion and support and our games and skills sessions are all designed to target and develop these areas but still make it fun for the children.
We play “tag” rugby where there is no contact but this acts as a pre-cursor to learning to tackle when they reach the Under 9s. The U7s will start to play matches against other clubs and so there are always fun trips away.
Bishop’s Stortford RFC is a family club and the social element is high on the agenda. We have lots of social events and this is always a great chance for both coaches and parents to get to know each other.
Parents must remain with the children to watch on the sidelines so please bring some drinks and snacks for the kids during breaks and parents should dig out some warm clothes and sturdy boots for when the weather turns. You can buy coffee/tea and stronger beverages in the club house and the kids normally enjoy a hot dog or similar after the training session.
If any parent is interested in becoming a coach or just helping out then please do come forward and just have a chat to any of the coaches. We expect a large U7 squad so any help you are willing to give be it ad-hoc or on a regular basis is welcomed.
