Bristow strike secures excellent away win for 10 man Swifts

Bristow strike secures excellent away win for 10 man Swifts image

Bishop's Stortford Swifts picked up their 5th straight win with this good away performance against 4th placed Sandon Royals. Swifts started well and took the lead through Captain Ross Bristow, who latched on to a good thorugh ball, before shooting across the home keeper into the far corner for 1-0. Swifts suffered a setback on 10 minutes, when Ethan Stanley was dismissed for what seemed a harshly adjudged two footed tackle. The away side then saw out the first half with neither side creating any clear cut chances. Straight from the restart, Ric Montebello found himself one on one with the Sandon keeper, who did well to block his effort. In the early stages Swifts created several good chances without increasing their goal tally. As the game wore on Sandon increased the pressure on the away side and a series of corners were dealt with well by the Swifts defence, to see them to their 7th win in 8 games and move up to 6th place, with games in hand on several sides above them. Swifts next face 3rd place Herongate Athletic at home on the 5th February
