Swifts went into today’s league game against Kelvedon on the back of 2 disappointing defeats.
Again Manager Glashan made changes to his team due to unavailability in came Jervelle Hamilton to the side in place of the injured Ade Cole
Swifts made a very positive start to the game today taking the game to their hosts creating a couple of decent half chances but not putting them away , Kelvedon came into the game themselves and likewise had a couple of decent chances with excellent defending and a smart save from Brad Simpson keeping the score at nil , Swifts took the lead on around the 20 minute mark when Gavin Cockman received the ball on the left hand side of the Kelvedon box and cut across before unleashing a spectacular right foot shot that flew into the top corner of the Kelvedon net despite the best efforts of the home keeper.
Swifts then lost Dan Callaway to a thigh injury who was replaced by Sam Prendergast with Jervelle Hamilton switching to the back three , Kelvedon pulled themselves level when the unfortunate Hamilton scored in his own net , the scores were level at the interval at 1-1.
The second half begun rather cagey with few chances being created by either side with chances at a minimum, as the game progressed it became stretched at times with both sides missing decent chances with a combination of poor finishing and decent defending and goal keeping leaving the score at 1-1, Kelvedon finished the slightly stronger of the 2 sides in the final minutes but resolute defending and a couple of brave Brad Simpson saves earned Swifts a very good point on their travels against a decent Kelvedon outfit

Swifts keen to get 2018 of to a good start had the better of the early play and deserved their lead when George O'Neill powered in a shot from the edge of the box. Harry Bovingtons free kick from distance found the top corner to make it 2-0 at the break. The visitors worked hard and gave themselves a chance with a goal midway in the half however a long pass found Alex Watson who was too strong for the defender and slotted past the keeper to make it 3-1. Bovington now playing centre back scored the 4th charging up the pitch and blasting in a great solo goal.
Real Stortford Swifts Stars progressed to the last 16 of the County Cup without kicking a ball as Wormley were struck down by a flu virus and couldn’t play the game.
Lions pushed free scoring Bengeo Tigers all the way eventually exiting the League Cup on penalties to their higher division opposition.
