Bishop's Stortford Swifts moved up to 5th with a good away win at Benfleet. On a very heavy pitch after the recent bad weather and the strong wind playing its part, Swifts were dominant in the first half with Mark Roach having a superb game, but failed to convert any of their chances and found themselves a goal down at half-time. Swifts then started the 2nd half well and on 52 minutes, Nesta Qorda headed the equaliser. Eight minutes later substitute Ricardo Montebello gave Swifts the lead with a well taken effort. Swifts were now in control and were awarded a penalty on 68 minutes, which Qorda failed to convert. Swifts eventually made it 3 when a Smurthwaite free kick found its way under the Benfleet keeper and into the net. 5 Minutes later Benfleet pulled another back for a final score of 3-2 to Swifts and their 9th win in the last 10 games. Swifts next game is the Herts Intermediate Cup semi-final at home on the 25th February against St Albans City reserves.
