New Zealand Defence Force v Royal Air Force (Video)
7th Oct 2011
Day two took place in the surrounds of TG Millner Oval, home of the 2011 Shute Shield Premiership Winners, the Eastwood Rugby Club. It was a day when the first places in the Quarter Finals would be decided, and we would see the opening performances of teams who had the opening day bye.
Game 1: NZDF vs RAF
The RAF were coming off a big win on the opening day of the tournament and opened proceedings by going nose to nose with the NZDF Haka in a defiant display reminiscent of the Welsh internationals a few years ago. They come up against a powerful Kiwi outfit that combined some tough running forwards with a well drilled backline and that turned out to a bridge too far for the RAF, going down 58-0. They will still advance to the Quarter Finals after their opening win over PNG and can take some comfort at the way they maintained their aggression throughout the game. NZDF will face PNG on Sunday and look to be one of the form teams in the competition after this display.

The RAF took on the might of the NZDF and went head to head with NZDF Haka and were in for a bruising encounter. The NZDF set out their stall by winning the game 58-0. This leaves the RAF in the possible place of a Quarter Final game v ASRU unless the PNGDF can cause an upset by beating the NZDF.

The British Army are also in the Competition and here is some highlights of their match against the Samoan Police Force

The first game against Papua New Guinea Defence Force was an unknown factor for the RAF side, they looked big and the Haka was intimidating. The RAF ran away with the game to win 73 - 0 Jonny's contribution was two try's before half time when he was subbed off. The RAF now take on the New Zealand Defence force on Wednesday, lets hope they do the same to them.
