Well the 2017 Six Nations is over! England win the championship, but not the Grand Slam! Ireland and France finish on a high, while Scotland cap off a much improved campaign with Italy left without a point.

All the above doesn’t really matter in compassion to our predictions league! Those who came a cropper this week were the ones who thought the final week would be a higher scoring affair and possibly the most notable of these was one time leader David Newman, his score of 95 saw him finish third bottom this week. However, Benjamin Stone was back to his usual standards as he yet again had the highest score after an usually decent week last week. At the other end of the league there was a fairly comfortable win for Tom Lavelle who with a score of 26 points, was 5 points better off than second place Alex Evans. Well done Tom, I will give you your £10 winnings when I see you.

In the overall standings, at the bottom no one could come close to Benjamin Stone as he tallied a sizeable 585, much of this score was due to his mistaken faith in Italy, I hope you enjoy your holiday in Venice, Sicily, Sardinia or wherever you must be going in Italy! At the top David Newman’s bad week saw him drop way out of contention. While Tom Lavelle’s good week saw him jump from 30th place last week into the top 10 in the final standings. Alastair Newman managed to remain in the top 5. Anton Garcia and Tom Long (3rd Team Captain) were in the top two spots again, but of the two who managed to secure the all important top spot and I can confirm our best predictor this year is ........ Tom Long (3rd Team Captain)! Well done Tom, I will see you around and will present you with your £100 winnings!

To close out we will look at how some of the families got on. A couple of the ladies featured in our top ten, Lesley Neild finishing in eighth just 4 places above husband Bill. While Avril Rawson was in sixth putting the rest of the Rawson’s to shame!
Regular participants Simon and Matthew Birbeck had a decent year and unbelievably scored the exact same overall score. Tony White was the top of the White’s, but was still unable to break into the top half. A new family this year was The Reynolds and after the final week Maeve is left with the bragging rights. I hope all enjoyed.
