Dale give Burn a great game
Tough break for Chris mars an otherwise brilliant performance from our magnificent 13
Circumstances contrived to make today challenging to put it mildly, and in the end only 13 lads were available to play, out of our usual roster of 20+. Also MIA were Richard and John, with Scotty, Andy, Rhys and others kindly stepping manfully into the breach. Huge thanks to a great club, a great set of parents, and of course a great bunch of lads. Finally big thanks to Rossendale, stepping in late to take Aldwinians place, and providing us with a real challenge.
Thanks also to super team manager David for the following:
Blackburn ran out winners of a very close game against a touch and well organised Rossendale Side, Burn only had 1 against Dales full team and 3 replacements, but the lads battled hard throughout.
Our forward pack had a fantastic game, worked as a team with all putting in a shift with no respite. Their scrum was excellent, winning against the head on numerous occasions. This was exemplified by Chris, who suffered a broken collar bone after showing amazing strength fighting off 5 or 6 Dale lads to gain 20 metres before falling awkwardly. He had a fantastic game today and will be missed for the rest of the season.
Our backs again played their part with some moments of individual brilliance. At half time Burn were slightly ahead, and eventually ran out winners with 2 late tries after Dale had pulled it back to 5 each. Straight running from Johnny, great meat pies from Arthur and Theo amongst others. Tobi continues to impress, again running hard into the opposition and causing havoc, while he also led the way in aggressive defence showing the way ripping ball away from the Dale lads which Tom F and others soon emulated.
Hopefully all will be back to normal by next week, numbers and coaches wise. Plenty to work on in training on Wednesday - 6.30 see you there.
