Football is a funny old game.

Bewdley Town 7 v 1 Black Country Rangers

Football is a funny old game.

After Tuesday's dramatic comeback against Ellesmere Black Country Rangers went into the game full of confidence as they sat in second place in the table.

It was Bewdley however who started the brighter as they took the lead after just eight minutes as a sliced clearance from Matthew Vaughan flew into the top corner of the BCR goal.

Within five minutes Bewdley added when a long ball over the top caught the BCR defenders napping and it looked like the ball would safely travel through to Haynes in goal, the keeper failed to collect the ball and the Bewdley forward calmly slotted into the empty net to double the home sides lead.

It was BCR who seemed to rally and appeared to get themselves back in the game when Kieran Clarke's deft flick hit the post before Shaq McDonald was on song to fire home, just a minute later and BCR almost levelled when Dilano Reid crossed the ball from Matthew Vaughan who saw his header brilliantly saved by the BCR keeper.

In first half stoppage time the home side restored their two goal advantage when Shaq Reid was easily beaten down the right hand side and the cross was easily tapped in from just three yards out.

Half Time: Bewdley 3 BCR 1

The home side started the second half in blistering fashion when they fired four goals in within 15 minutes. Shaq McDonald came off at half time with a tight quadricep whilst Jason Chilton and Shaq Reid were both quickly hooked.

The first of the second half came after just 1 minute when another long ball saw the Bewdley forward skip around Haynes before firing home.

The second came when the right winger cut inside and fired into the bottom corner.

Bewdley's sixth was yet another long ball as the BCR defence failed to cope with a long ball, the Bewdley forward was once again on hand to slot beyond the on rushing Haynes.

With BCR heads down Bewdley compounded the away sides misery when they added a 7th with a well placed finish in the bottom corner from just 12 yards out.

The final 30 minutes of the game were largely unimpressive, BCR will be looking to bounce back on Tuesday night at home to Smethwick but if they play anything like today then it's advisable we bring an abacus in the hope that Smethwick will declare and let the home side have a go.

Full time: Bewdley 7 BCR 1
