A brace from Whittingham & Clarke fire BCR to dizzy heights
Two goals in each half secure's another league double
Dudley Town 0 Black Country Rangers 4
A brace in each half by Shaq Whittingham and Kieran Clarke proved enough as Rangers climbed to the top of the Premier division on the back of this tenth league game without defeat.
Manager Wayne Spicer made just one team change from the side that had demolished Wolverhampton Casuals 7-2 the week before with Hayden Hughes making his full debut replacing Lewis Taylor – Boyce who was unavailable.
Following their 4-2 win over Cradley Town, Dudley’s first league win since August, Dudley manager Dean Whitehouse had introduced four new signing’s to their youthful line-up, in the hope of repeating the feat.
But BCR had other ideas and went about business as normal.
Shaq Whittingham added his name to the score sheet after just six minutes to open the scoring for BCR. Presented with a high ball just inside the 10 yard box, he made no mistake in placing it into the corner of the net.
Then on 20 minutes, a Dudley free kick from 15 yards out was body blocked by a solid four man wall. Brad Lawley immediately carried the loose ball up field to set up Jason Chiltern on the edge of the box, Chiltern executed a low powerful strike which Town keeper Shane Maydem parried, and the ball was placed into an empty net by Whittingham.
Two minutes into the second half, Kieran Clarke made it 3-0 slicing the ball home from a Hayden Hughes cross, and on 66 minutes a Whittingham cross found the unmarked Clarke, who with all the time in the world picked his spot and put the game beyond any doubt.
Dudley’s best opportunity came on 78 minutes when Ryan Harper’s 20 yard effect shaded the post with Henderson in full flight.
As Tividale's game fell victim to the weather, this victory means BCR climb into pole position, two points clear of Malvern Town who drew 1-1 with Bewdley and three points of Tividale.
Wolves Sporting were involved in the FA VASE and beat Cogenhoe Town 3-2 on alien soil. Massive Congratulations to them.
Black Country Rangers are once again on the road this Saturday, when they travel to Brierley Hill to take on SMETHWICK at High Ercall avenue in yet another local derby – kick off 3pm.
