A point gained could arguably be seen as 2 points dropped from the Home match on Saturday, seen by many as an opportunity to progress after the previous, and encouraging 1-1 draw away at 5th placed Romsey Town on the 7th January.
Now locked on 17th & 18th place respectively, visitors Alresford Town were quick to counter attack from an organised defence.
Their pace and distribution to the wide areas enabled them to gain the most ground quickly.
These tactics caught the hosts out a few times when committing players forward in search of goals.
A different tactical approach from interval talks failed to ignite Blackfield enough to convert the opportunities presented to them. Chances were created, but sadly wasted by both sides in the final third of the pitch right up until the final whistle.
A 0-0 result may be considered a positive against the negativity of a loss, however as the saying goes -'goals win games'
With no fixture due for Saturday 21st January(Due to Bournemouth Poppies FA Vase game) Blackfield must wait until Saturday 28th January for the visit of Alton Town.
Perhaps this may be sufficient time for the team to re-group and find an alternative plan B for getting the 'goals' that may lead to a climb up the table.
Let's hope that a solution can be found soon.
