Welcome to Blackheath FC Rugby Minis

Blackheath Football Club is the oldest open rugby club in the world having been founded in 1858. Our thriving minis section is an integral part of The Club. We play at our Well Hall training ground near Blackheath and have a large and successful minis section for girls and boys between the ages of five and twelve.

Rugby is about Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. Our emphasis in the Minis is about having fun and playing safely in an inclusive environment. Not only is the rugby fun, but playing for Blackheath gives children the chance to enjoy the camaraderie and friendship that comes from being part of a team and part of a club steeped in history and tradition.

At U6-U8 our players play Tag Rugby, a non contact game which emphasises basic co-ordination, ball handling and evasive running skills. At U9 through to U12, our players play contact mini / midi rugby, which means that they can physically tackle their opponents.

We take pride in being an “open club”. We welcome players of all standards. If you would like to join us, please contact the individual age group managers or just turn up on a Sunday morning at 10am at Well Hall and join a training session. Please do check the fixture list beforehand though as sometimes we are playing festival and fixtures away from home.

We look forward to welcoming you.
