Message from Neil Dewale
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the supporters, players and management at CLUB for the most amazing 7 seasons. To leave Blackheath was honestly the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my fairly short life. The supporters, and in particular my sponsors Mike and Helen (the Predictors), who have followed us the length and breadth of the country, come rain or snow, are some of the best people in the land, The Players are now and always will be some of my closest friends and The Management team of Yusuf Ibrahim, Bobby Howe, Mike Friday and Albert Patrick have been the most supportive and inspiring team I have ever worked under.
Together we have all shared the highs and lows, both on and off of the pitch and away victories at the likes of Redruth, Tynedale last season and Paington in the Cup a few years ago will always live long in my memory. However, one string of victories will always stick out in the pack and that was the 11 bonus point victories on the bounce at the end of last season. I was part of one of the most amazing groups of people I have ever been involved in and have accepted this feat will never again be achieved. 55:11
The time has come, however, for me to take the opportunity to play rugby overseas in Hong Kong and further my work career in that part of the world. I will be joining Kowloon RFC who play in the Premier competition there and are currently captained by a former Blackheath player (albeit quite brief) and good friend of mine David Tait.
For those of you who don’t know I will be going through the gruesome pre-season training regime with the guys up until I leave on 18th August so if you get the chance to pop down to say goodbye that will be great.
I would like to wish the club all the best for the next season and for their end of season tour to Australia in June 2013 (I hope to also join them on this tour) and take this last opportunity to Thank everyone else involved at the club who have made my time here the best any rugby player could ever dream of. All the way from the top where we have Mike Newsom and Barry Nealon down to the coaching team and exceptional talent they have in the under 9’s(now the under 10’s) with whom I was privileged to help coach last year.
Hopefully see you on the terraces or out on the field soon.
Come on Club!!!!!!
Neilo
