u11's win by 40 runs against Outlane
On a drizzly night Blackley u11's cruise to their latest league victory.
Winning the toss and electing to bat Blackley put in a solid batting display against some good bowling from their local rivals. Sanraj Uppal (22) and William Hulme (4) got the home side off to a good start with Uppal smashing 4 boundaries. Kai Smith (7) & Bradley Fysh (17) kept the momentum with 3 more boundaries to Fysh and 1 to Smith. The only 2 wickets to fall came during the spell of Daniel Sharp (8) and Harry Marsh (9) when Marsh was run out going for a risky single and then being well caught in the outfield. 2 lusty blows gave him two boundaries however and keeping the theme going Sharp also found the rope. With the better bowlers returning Luka Orlic (6) and Oliver Millard (2) found scoring more difficult however with no further losses of wickets the team posted a very respectable 289 (299 -10).
Needing to score quickly Outlane found themselves up against it with a great first four overs, 2 from Hulme and 1 each from Millard and Orlic. Hulme looked particularly impressive and soon brought the first wicket of the visitors reply. Despite some wayward bowling midway through the innings accounting for more extras than would be hoped for the scoring never really got going with only 15 runs coming from the bat of the first 6 batsmen. A run out reduced Outlane by a further 5 as they found themselves needing over 50 runs from their final pair in the remaining 4 overs. They did however make a good show of it with some good running and some well needed boundaries. The return of Orlic, Hulme and Millard put a stop to any shock result with some fierce bowling that brought Orlic a wicket maiden and Hulme's second of the evening with a good catch off his own bowling.
Blackley now move on to their final 2 league games of the season with their unbeaten record intact.
