Philly Returns as Fourths Win

Phil Elliott (73 years young) came out of rugby retirement to help the fourths to a 35-29 victory over Lansdowne in a great game.

Perfect conditions in Ballycorus made for a great game of rugby with two talented and ambitious sides. Tries from Kevin Whitney, Barra Neary and Phil Elliot as well as some great kicking from Mark Underwood had Rock take the lead but some good attacking play from Lansdowne had them take the lead 29-28. Then, from his own try line, Barra again popped up and topped an excellent display with a opportunistic break and ran from one side of the pitch to the other and back again before being hauled down just short of the line but the quick ball was thrown wide for one of the Creavins to go over and claim the victory. I think it was Greg but with three of them on the pitch you can never be sure. Mark Underwood then slotted the conversion for a 35-29 victory in a great game of open flowing rugby.

Special note goes to Gary O'Riordan who after years of being outshone by his brother, Carl, took the title of "the better O'Riordan".
