JACK HARPER PASSES AWAY
It is with deep regret that we can confirm that Jack Harper passed away last Tuesday. Jack was a sporting legend from the Blackwell area.
Jack Harper was a sporting legend from the area and excelled in both football and cricket but his name was made with the bat and ball.
Jack's passing will be the end of an era of people who put the name of Blackwell Miners Welfare on the sporting map over the last 60 years.
Still active to the end he would follow his beloved BMWCC to their games on Sundays and I would always have a chat with him just after 6 am in the local paper shop were he would be waiting to help out with sorting the papers even at that uneartthly hour.
Jack was a great cricketer but also had a spell with Mansfield, his brother was also an acomplished sportsman.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him but will have left fond memories of his time with us.
Funeral arrangements to be confirmed but I believe next Tuesday at Mansfield Crem 10:45 am will be the date.
