Mountain Ash 0 - 7 Blackwood
Blackwood win tight game
MOUNTAIN ASH 0 - 7 BLACKWOOD
Saturday February 18th
Blackwood visited Mountain Ash today with high hopes of a victory. It was never going to be a classic due to the conditions, water on the surface of the pitch but quite firm below. This made holding on to the ball very difficult for both sides.
The home side got off to a good start and put a couple of early moves together, but coming up to the 10 minute mark the visitors were awarded a penalty wide out on the oppositions 22m line. They opted to put the ball in the corner and go for the lineout, after a set move David Brake went over in the corner for a well worked try, converted by Adam Jones. That was the only score of the game.
Mountain Ash made a number of line breaks that may well have finished with tries but for the final pass going astray or the ball being dropped, this also applied to the visitors who at times played some good open rugby, but for some poor decision making and at times poor handling they too may have had more to show for their efforts. Woods set piece went pretty well but they are going to have to hold onto the ball better after it is won if they are going to compete further down the campaign
