Charity night to raise funds for the 'Doddie Weir5 Trust'

Last Saturday Blairgowrie Rugby Club held a 'Spoof Night' organised by Duncan MacRae raising £818.40 for the 'Doddie Weir5 Trust' which was recently established in response to Doddie being diagnosed as suffering from Motor Neuron Disease.

Doddie Weir is one of rugby’s most recognised faces and personalities, a championship winner at club level for Melrose and Newcastle Falcons, and on the international stage for Scotland and the British Lions.

Capped 61 times for Scotland, Doddie toured with the Lions to South Africa in 1997, and continues to represent the most famous touring team in the game across the world at dinners, lunches and functions. He also once scored twice against the All Blacks in a World Cup tie (although modesty means he seldom mentions it).

Overall winner on the night was Kirsty McLaren who collected the Trophy along with the £75 first prize with Gary Constable collecting the £25 Runner up prize.

Thanks were relayed to Moira Crilley-Orr for preparing the superb supper and to all those who donated raffle prizes and or money on the evening.
