AGM 2017 & Pre Season Friendlies - Updated 16/6

10 months ago By Paul Warman

The Beavers gear up for the new season

On Monday 15th May, the club's AGM was held at the clubhouse.

This was well attended by existing and new committee members and it was pleasing to see a number of 'younger' faces looking to get involved with the running of the club.

Chairman Martin Plumstead remarked on a challenging year for the club, which saw the chairman and both first and reserves team managers leave their positions within the first 3 months of the season.

Fortunately, the club were grateful to Paddy for stepping in to manage the first team, who alongside Nick, managed to stabilise things and attain very creditable sixth position.

The Reserves regrettably got relegated but this was accepted by the committee as they have struggled in Division 2 since being promoted two seasons ago.

As reported before, Damian Didwell and Liam Barnes were unanimously appointed as first and reserve team managers for the new season.

Treasurer Julian Clarke reported a loss for the year but this was attributed to the amount of money spent on the new dugouts. The club still remains in a very healthy financial position, no small thanks to the committee members who continuously give up their own time to run the social side of the club.

The new lease is drawing ever closer to being agreed and signed. Again, as reported before, once this has been completed, some urgent maintenance work can begin on the clubhouse.

All current members of the committee were re-elected with the exception of David Yeates who has resigned. We thank Dave for his contribution during his time with us.

A number of new people were also elected to the committee, bringing the number of serving members to over twenty, which puts the club in an excellent position off the field.
