The home side underlined their pre season favourites tag with an impressive 4-1 win over Blofield.
New manager Ricci Butler has assembled a side full of Thurlow Nunn experience and on this evidence, they showed all the qualities of a Sterry Cup winning side.
Their fast moving, slick football on a difficult surface was too much for the beleaguered Beavers as the home side raced into a 3-0 lead and to be honest it could have been worse but for some poor finishing, the woodwork and good goalkeeping from Ian Stones.
Blofield themselves have had to rebuild this pre season with a number of key players leaving and manager Didwell will probably be thankful that in the end, it was only four. He will be aware though that there will need to be improvements and to be fair there should be as a couple of the players have only just returned to action after some years of inactivity.
Blofield never gave up and got some reward with a late consolation from Isaac Mace. A full report will follow shortly.
The Reserves begin their campaign tonight, away at Wymondham (6.30 ko).
