Blofield United 3 Cromer Town 1

Mr Paul Smith , todays referee flanked by his linesmen,Andy Waite and Murray Grant meet the two captains, Liam Davies and Kris Hart. Kris is quickly called into action within the first minute to cut out the pass to Paul Winterbone, No.7 Greg guides the ball forward despite the attention of 6' 4 Steve Jordan. Greg evades a challenge from Matthew Eves and plays the ball across the park and into the path of the advancing Colin Wines.
James Basey- Fisher manages to complete his pass despite being put under some pressure. Greg gets the better of Matthew Eves and sprints down field. At this stage , Blofield were enjoying the lions share of the possession. From a nod down by James , Chris tries to monopolise on the situation but Aaron Osbourne has reacted quickly. As the two come together the ball is spilt but the chance is lost.
Liam Landamore trying to find a way past Greg. Matty Banham  preventing Antoni Hawkes from turning. After 10 minutes the balance of play had swung in Cromers favour and here it takes both Matty and Stuart to thwart a Cromer attack. Matthew Eves shoots for goal but it goes wide.
In another move ,Rushie out jumps the Cromer player to head the ball to safety. Corner. Robert Woodcock comes out to punch the ball a way from the Cromer forward. There were lots of individual tussles all over the pitch. Here Danny Mac and Liam Landamore come together with Danny successfully chesting the ball down. Having got the ball under control. Danny then sprints off down the wing.
Ben Morgan tries his luck from the edge of the area. It was always going to be a closely fought encounter between last years Sterry cup winners and Blofield who have ambitions of emulating that feat this year. James isn't able to out jump Aaron in the Cromer goal. Just inside the box and Chris takes on Liam Davies
However, on this occasion Liam is the victor and clears his lines. Matty isn't able to prevent the Cromer striker from shooting. Fortunately it didn't trouble Woodie in goal. Ben tackles Matthew Eves for the ball He then leaves Matthew behind as he sets off for the Cromer end of the pitch
Having received the ball in the penalty area Danny wards off the efforts of Sam Wenham Ben plays the ball forward for Chris to run on to. Chris picks up the pass in the Cromer area and is immediately closed down by Steve Jordan who marked Chris all afternoon. Sequence 1
In this next sequence some supporters felt that Steve got the ball unfairly with what distinctly looked like pushing.

Was this achieved fairly ? On this occasion Chris out smarts Steve and plays the ball out to Colin. Colin takes the pass and shoots before he is tackled. The ball went wide.
Matthew Eves foray into the Blofield box comes to an abrupt end when he is tackled by Matty. At this stage Cromer were still shading it in terms of possesion and chances but here Danny Mac has a shot while in full flight. This seemed to spure Cromer on and only a timely interception by Greg prevented Hawkes from finishing off a fast flowing move. James then made an excellent tackle to deny Eves. The pressure was mounting on Blofield at this stage.
Though Matty is appealing for offside, Terrington continues his run towards goal. Woodie stands up and make a crucial save to deny Terrington after the ref had ignored Blofield's appeal for offside. Moments later and it is Hawkes advancing on the Blofield goal having slipped past his man. Only a very brave save at Hawkes'feet prevented a certain goal. Blofield couldn't get out of their own area!
Matty relieves the pressure following a corner and places a powerful header down field Kris manages to exploit the space Cromer had left at the back and but for the timely intervention by Eves ,Blofield had the opportunity to register the first goal. Last action of the half. Second half
Blofield immediately get possession and Chris plus his shadow , run towards the Cromer area. The struggle continued deep into the area by which time Steve had wrestled the ball off Chris. What ever was said at half time certainly worked because it is now all Blofield. Matty, as if to prove the point, takes on 2 Cromer defenders before shooting. Osborne is alert and even though the shot came through a sea of legs he is able to save it.
It was a similar shot to this that Matty unleashed from the edge of the Cromer box that hit Osborne on chest before rebounding to safety. The writing was on the wall! Ben takes the ball through nearly to the bi line before crossing to the far side of the box to Danny. Danny seizes the opportunity and shoots using the momentum of Ben's pass to give his shot more venom. Eves is helpless to prevent the ball powering past him like a bullet.
Goal!  The ball whistles by Aaron Osbornes outstretched arm and lodges itself against one of the stanchions.
Blofield United 1 Cromer Town 0 Well done Danny! In the next attack, it is Liam Davies' turn to make a timely intervention as both Colin and Rushie attempt to win the ball. Ben gets the better of Paul Winterbone
Chris shouted for a penalty but the refs response was that as the defender was so close when Chris shot the only way he could have avoided hitting the ball was to chop his hands off! All over the park the Cromer players were being closed down especially in the  midfield. They had no time to dwell on the ball. However, John Curtis delivered a timely reminder of how dangerous and fragile a one goal lead can be.
At the other end Chris is put through by James and it takes an excellent tackle from Liam Davies to keep the score down. Sequence 1 .
Greg releases Chris down the right wing hottly pursued by Liam Davies, the Cromer captain. Sequence 2
Chris takes the ball right to the bi line before he is caught by Liam but he couldn't prevent Chris from chipping the ball towards Ben in the box. Confussion rains and the ball is loose. Sequence 3
Goal! Colin pounces on the loose ball and lashes it past the keeper.
Blofield United 2 Cromer Town 0
One more for your Facebook collection Ben! If the Cromer game plan was to make sure Chris was marked at all times, Steve Jordan did an excellent job. Ben takes on two Cromer defenders Colin and the Cromer defender both go for the ball but ultimately Colin wins and plays the ball to Chris.
Sequence 1
Chris runs towards the Cromer area hottly pursued by a Cromer substitute. Sequence 2
Chris then passes the ball out to Ben on the right who controls the ball Sequence 3
He then balances himself and prepares to shoot while Davies tries to close him down Sequence 4
Alas Liam is too late and Ben despatches a low shot towards goal
Sequence 5
Goal! With the keeper beaten , Ben's shot rockets into the net.

Blofield United 3 Cromer Town 0 Ben holds off Winterbone before releasing James. Cromer were not down and out and it took three Blofield players to deny Eves on this occasion. Sequence 1
Blofield were still enjoying territorial advantage over Cromer and here Chris gets between Jordan and Harwood to place a pass for Colin to run onto.

Colin then attempts to get the ball under control. Sequence 3
This gives Aaron Osborne in the Cromer goal time to close him down and Colins attempted chip is saved. We then entered a phase when everything seemed to involve James. Here he is getting past David Harwood. And then he takes on Gavin Neale
Before beating Harwood yet again. No sequence would be complete without these two again- joined at the hip or Strictly come dancing? Sequence 1
Greg plays the ball back to Woodie Sequence 2
But Eves intercepts it and despite Darren trying to rectify the situation, Eves shoots for goal
Sequence 3
Goal. Eves places his shot wide of Woodie to reduce the deficit.

Blofield United 3 Cromer Town 1 Ben Hughes manages to beat Woodie but unfortunately he cannot find the net! New signing Jamie Furlong gets in to the action Ian Stones closes Landamore down so that Cromer cannot spring any more surprises
