Great fightback to snatch a draw.

Due to the state of the Blyth pitch the game was switched to the plastic pitch at Druids Park. Blyth started well and were 5 points up in the first few minutes when Allen followed up grubber kick to score in the corner. This fired up Sunderland who spent the rest of the half attacking but the Blyth defence held out until just before half time Sunderland equalising with a try in the corner. The second half continued in the same style Sunderland taking the lead with another unconverted try before a mistake by Blyths backs gifted them a third try to stretch the lead to 12 points.Blyth then got themselves back into the game turning down a kick at goal for a lineout. From the resulting catch and drive Fraser crashed over in the corner. In the final minutes Blyth pressed hard for the equaliser until Sunderland infringed in front of the posts. As there was no time from the lineout scrum half Smithson tapped the ball and gave it to his forward to crash over Smith getting the touch down and Smithson converting to give Blyth the draw. Next weeks game is away to North Shields 2.15 pm KO
