Despite late withdrawals by a number of players Blyth managed to grind out another win.

Blyth travelled to Aycliffe for the first time in a league fixture and came away with a hard earned win against one of their promotion rivals. Playing into a gale force wind Blyth pressured the home defence but any slight error resulted in the ball being punted down field and then worked back upfield as kicking was almost impossible against the wind. Against the run of play the home side scored a penalty for off side from one of their clearance kicks and then ran in two tries to lead 15 nil at the interval. Using the wind in the second half Blyth soon got points on the board when hooker Goulding pounced on a loose ball from a line out. The second try came soon after when another mistake from the home side allowed Cole to steal the ball and force his way over, the difficult conversion being missed due to the wind. It was only a matter of time before Blyth took the lead and it came from a rampaging run from second row McGlen and with McCardel adding the conversion nosed Blyth in front for the first time. Ayclffe should have been reduced to 14 men when one of their players who had already been yellow carded punched a Blyth forward right in front of the referee but after a lengthy debate the ref decided to be lenient and let him off. As Blyth pressed for the fourth bonus point try the home side had a couple of chances to win the game themselves but the visitors held on to consolidate their league position to win 15 - 17
