Blyth 1st XV were beating their Whitley counterparts at home, Blyth 2nds were running riot at away. After a slow 10mins blyth opened the scoring with a well taken try from Liam Heslop. His first this season. This was quickly followed by a powering drive from Karl Rose and then a well run back line move which culminated in mark catterel supporting to score. Whitley did come back with a penalty to make it 15-3 at half time.
Craig Broadhead had been playingexceptionally well and eventually scored himself with a break down the wing, he also converted his own try. It looked as though Blyth would continue the scoring since they had so much possession and the three quarters had far more speed and accuracy of the pass compared with their opponents.
Simon Yeo was brought on for Karl Rose, but then got the yellow card. Down to 14 Blyth were under a bit more pressure but Criag again managed to break wide and his pace carried past all defenders. He then passed the ball to Tom barrett to score but Tom tripped lost the ball and failed with only a couple of meters from the line. Embarrasing moment for both winger and hooker.
Blyth did not have any more chances and Rockcliff took the initiative in the last 10 mins by scoring a converted try mainly after some forward drives.
Entertaining game with Blyth showing most of the class.
