After a summer of rumour and counter-rumour NEMLA have formally announced that Boardman & Eccles LC have been promoted from North 2 to North 1 for the 2011/12 season, meaning that they will now play at the highest standard possible for a second team.
Despite finishing 4th in North 2, they were the highest placed "promotable" side with the top three spots filled by B Teams. Under NEMLA rules, two teams from the same club cannot compete in the same division and so promotion rights have been passed down in this case to B&E's A Team!
This is fantastic news for the Senior Section at Boardman & Eccles LC, shrinking the gulf of competitive standard between the 1st and A Team's respective divisions that would have occurred had just 1st Team moved up a division. North 2 is a fantastic platform for players pushing for a 1st Team birth and there is no doubt that having our A Team compete in that division will no doubt improve the overall strength of the Senior Squad.
