Boded hosted Penmaenmawr Phoenix in the league at Cae Ty Cristion and it didn`t disappoint, the away side have a lot of games in hand like ourselves and we knew we were in for a real game.
Pen started the game well and their front 3 were lively but the back four of Boded stood firm before we finally got the ball down and played like we can. We carved the visitors open time and time again as winger Shaun Jenkins missed two gilt edged chances before Jordan Taylor put us 1 up on 15 minutes, good work from Steven “Tyco” Whittaker and Aidan Clark and Taylor hammered home from all of 2 yards. We carried on peppering the pen goal but there stopper was in fine form as Tyco and Aidan missed chances before we got caught by a sucker punch as the Phoenix broke quickly and scored on 23 minutes, game on as they say and we weren’t about to lie down as it`s something we don’t do.
A fine team goal on 31 minutes put us 2-1 up as full-back Eric Leach flew down the left skipping past the winger and fullback before drilling a brilliant cross which Jenkins dummied as the Pen defence and keeper stood still and there was top scorer Tyco to slam home.
HT - Bodedern Ath 2 - 1 Penmaenmawr Phoenix
The message at half time was keep doing what you`re doing and we’ll win comfortably if we finish our chances. The away side came flying out again but failed to trouble Boded keeper Kenny Jones, before the goal of the game came on 61 mins. Aidan was brought down 25-30 yards from goal, up stepped Jordan Taylor to hit an absolute thunderbolt right into the top corner, the Pen keeper had no chance.
Now it was time to kill the visitors off and we did just that as Jordan flew past a couple of challenges down the right and beat the off-side trap, a simple ball squared for Tyco to score.
The 5th was soon after as Aidan broke through two challenges before playing it to Tyco who squared for Jenkins to get on the scoresheet, his 7th in 4 games. Pen pulled a goal back on 83 minutes but it was game over as Boded grabbed a sixth in stoppage time.
Aidan again played Tyco through but his shirt was pulled in the box and ref pointed to the spot. Tyco stepped up and notched another hat-trick, and his 20th of the season.
