Brave fightback just not enough!
Juniors show fighting spirit!
Mynydd Llandygai Reserves were the visitors on a blustery day at Cae Cob.The Juniors for various reasons fielded a depleted outfit and Mynydd immediately attacked and Liam Owen had a good effort saved by home keeper Josh Roberts on 10 minutes but the Juniors went downfield and from a corner nearly went ahead as Jordan Williams headed over.Mynydd then had a series of attacks and on 14 minutes Wyn Morris stuck a chance home after sloppy defending. On 16 minutes Mynydd doubled the score as Tomos Griffiths cut in from the wing and fired home a shot. Mynydd had a stranglehold on the game and created several half chances and on 20 minutes Huw Davies struck a good effort which home keeper Roberts again saved. On 30 minutes Liam Owen cut in from the wide right and struck a good effort onto the net. The game appeared to be all over by half time as Colin Ball prompted further attacks with Iwan Morris and Roberts in the home goal was heroic.Half Time 0v3.
The second half opened as the first had ended with Mynydd attacking down both flanks with Iwan and Wyn Morris prominent in attack but slowly the Juniors got a grip and kept their defensive shape and the Juniors substitutions eased problems in midfield and on 70 minutes Aaron Jones set up Luke Allaway who rounded the Mynydd keeper to score.Spurred on by this success the Juniors gathered confidence and momentum and Luke Allaway was on hand again on 82 minutes to round the keeper and score. This prompted a grandstand finish as the Juniors gave everything to gain a draw and Mynydd had their backs to the wall but Colin Ball was always on hand to calm things down as full time came.Ball was certainly a star for Mynydd and home keeper Roberts again stood out but the Juniors as an unit can draw some satisfaction at the fightback and this should give them confidence for the next match.
