This will be by far the biggest event ever hosted at the club and follows on from the runaway success of last year’s event which attracted nearly three thousand local people.
The doors open this Saturday (14th May) at 10.30am and the fun continues non-stop through the day until 4pm and again on the Sunday with a slightly later start of 11am but will then carry on until 4pm. The event has been put together by a bunch of local community groups including the rugby club and there is no charge to enter the site on either day and even has subsidised food from around the world on Saturday lunchtime.
There will be two giant marquees erected, one for the various entertainments being shown and the other for stalls, food sales and local charities and community groups. We have a local celebrity chef doing cooking displays in our very own mobile food unit so the aromas from this and the world food stalls will be amazing.
A full size family funfair is there throughout with lots of rides and stalls for all the family plus bouncy castles, archery, BWFC football arena, climbing wall, fire engine and loads more to keep all ages occupied all day.
The entertainment is provided by loads of local talent with brass bands, the GMP police swing band, singers, dancers and acrobats to mention but a few plus a “Halliwell’s Got Talent” competition on the Sunday as a grand finale.
We even have a Fire engine for the kids to climb all over and police horses and other community information providers and the whole weekend will be going out live on Bolton FM with a full outside broadcast studio on site throughout.
This is one not to be missed so please come down to show your support and soak up the fun at your club. Parking of course will be seriously restricted but overspill parking has been arranged at Tennyson Mill which is only a short walk away and saves getting blocked in.
We even have the first ever game of summer rugby league being played by a Bolton Rugby Union team, this is on pitch three on Saturday afternoon so feel free to come and support the boys in an hitherto alien environment.
If you need any information or are able to lend a hand as a volunteer then please contact myself (Mark Brocklehurst 07775 841924) or JP Hardman as we have lots of roles to fill on both days.
Best wishes and I look forward to seeing you and all the family over the weekend.
Regards
Mark Brocklehurst
Club Chairman
