Bolton Host Broughton Park in the Brian Leigh Lancashire Trophy

Bolton RUFC welcomes Broughton Park to Avenue Street this coming weekend, in the first round of the Lancashire Trophy competition. Following a successful 13/14 season which culminated in both promotion to N1W and claiming the Lancashire Cup, the Cherry & Whites are itching to get their campaign underway and gain their first taste of what life in North 1 West is really going to feel like.

Park boast a strong side, who following promotion into N1W at the end of the 12/13 season, managed to claim 6th spot, holding off the likes of Warrington and Vale of Lune during their campaign that included a good double over 4th placed Kendal and a close victory over 3rd placed Widnes. Last season they conceded their opening cup fixture, but will be looking to get one up on Bolton at this early point of the season.

Coach Nick Holmes has a strong squad from which to pick his match day squad, with 28 names on the available list. No doubt this will ensure that intensity at training remains high in the final two sessions before Saturdays’ fixture. A couple of new faces are within that 28, Nick Smith and Dominic West, who will both be hoping that they have done enough in training to impress Holmes and earn their first appearances for the Cherry & Whites.

A number of other North 1 West teams are also in action this weekend in the same competition:

Home Away
Aldwinians Vs.Leigh
De La SalleVs.Liverpool St Helens
Eccles Vs.West Park
Ruskin Park Vs.Rochdale (Current Holders)
WidnesVs. Tyldesley
WiganVs. Blackburn

As always, the 1st XV would welcome all support at Avenue Street with Kick-Off scheduled for 3pm.
