After securing a deserved replay from saturday Bookham came into the match with Casey McCabe coming in for the injured Nathan Oliver in the middle of the park and Daniel Oliver replacing Joe Taylor at right back due to work commitments. It was always going to be tough for both sides to carry on playing the football we saw on saturday due to the very poor state of the pitch. Both teams started well with VCD carrying out a different formation and packing the midfield. At times in the 1st half despite the pitch some good football was played however chances were sparse without either keeper having much to do. For Bookham Chin looked lively and he looked our best chance to carve open any opportunity. At the start of the second half Bookham had there best effort of the game with Breslin and Chin linking up well and Chin forcing the keeper to save in the bottom left and forcing a corner. As time went by with it looking a cert for extra time VCD delivered a ball which was met with a neat finish past Kennard. Bookham were getting tired and heads were down and within 2 minutes VCD doubled the lead with confusion in the Bookham defence. Overall for both games Bookham should be proud of there displays with a lot of great individual and team performances. We have a tough game this saturday away versus Hartley Wintney who are undefeated so far this season in the league and so we hope to carry on the spirit and consistency that the lads have shown in the last 2 games. Everyone at Bookham would like to wish VCD all of the best in the competion which puts them away v Lordswood in the next round.
