Bookham took on high flying Guernsey in this early kick off at the meadowbank. Bookham started the game well and both sides were playing some great football however Guernsey's clinical finishing and Bookham's own mistakes were there downfall and a 3-0 scoreline at half time. The first came from a James King mistake when he took too long on the ball and the Guernsey player was set free and made no mistake with the finish. The 2nd shortly followed with a tame shot being fumbled over Kennard into the net. Then 5 before half time a corner caused problems and the ball dropped in the 6 yard box to the unmarked player who couldn't miss. All 3 goals were sloppy and the lads knew it. From the kick off for the 2nd half Bookham came out flying and played some exciting pacey football and were causing Guernsey problems. Kemble came on for Neilson and was already giving the back line something to think about. Bookham managed to pull a goal back from a fantastic header from Captain Fuller. Bookham had to take a gamble to get back into the game and by pushing Goodman inside a little and supporting the impressive Thompson and Fowler was a move that saw Bookham playing there best football of the season. Bookham still had to be careful and nearly paid for there pressing when Guernsey rattled the bar late on. Then 6 minutes from time Bookham scored there 2nd from a scramble in the box and Kemble managed to poke home. This made the last 5 minutes a nervy time for the impressive Guernsey but they managed to defend well and take the 3 points. It was a game of 2 halves really but you can see why Guernsey are sitting top. From the impressive keeper all through the side to Allen they have players off high quality and great work ethic. If only Bookham turned up for the 1st half then it could have been interesting. Up next for Bookham is wednesday's tough trip to Warlingham.
