It took them a while to get started in this match but things weren't helped with a complete mix up with a free kick in the Vics half inside the first 7mins allowing the Bardon striker a clean run at goal and calmly beat Vics keeper Smith.
This seemed to spring some life into Vics after some neat play involving Staniland, Pawley and Lehal the ball found Vics Striker Finlay who had his shot saved but Hind was on had to finish very well.
Vics were now winning battles across the pitch with Sam Kellogg and Callum Thompson getting a firm hold in midfield it only seemed inevitable that Vics took the lead in this game. They did so in the 43rd minute after a great in swinging corner from Staniland, Thompson was on hand to fire the ball into the top corner on the half volley with a great finish.
This was all the Vics deserved after some great forward play throughout the first half.
Just as Vics thought they were going into the break a goal up yet another defensive mix up, and a failure to clear lines allowed another easy finish for Bardon Hill.
Half Time 2-2
Vics came out for the second half on the front foot, the excellent Finlay and Hind causing a lot of problems for the Bardon defence, but it was that man Thompson again who popped up with a majestic curled effort into the bottom corner to put the Vics 3-2 up, again the lead richly deserved.
Every time Vics took the lead they shot themselves in the front with some awful defending, this time Land let his man run of his shoulder directly from a free kick inside the Bardon half, to allow a easy finish. The game was now becoming stretched and both sides could have scored on a number of occasions. It was Vics who again took the lead great work from Leigh and Lehal down the right the ball was squared to Hind who finished easily.
With the Vics management thinking "that's it we can't concede another sloppy goal", the Vics defence were given a number of opportunities to clear a ball into the box, which they failed to do, the ball fell to the Bardon striker 18yrds out to smash the ball into the top corner.
Vics could of still taken all 3 points back up the M1 with Finlay and Hind going close but it was to be a draw.
4-4 Full Time
Managers Verdict
Thom Kellogg says " It was a great game for us in the final 3rd of the pitch which is something we have been striving to do better in recent weeks, but just as we pull it all together up front we shoot ourselves in the foot at the back with some dreadful defending throughout the game. With King, Ruston, Tansley, Frost, Mitchell and the Betteridge brothers missing from the side a special mention should go to Deesh Lehal, Scott Staniland and Joe Ilston have all came into the squad in recent weeks and performed fantastically and have given me a real headache over selections in the coming weeks."
